About
ADVANCED CREATIVE WRITING SHORT TERM COURSE
Literary awards, literature festivals, international publishers and bestseller lists- Indian writing has never been more fashionable. Or more competitive. Anyone who has attempted any form of creative writing knows that the difference between "adequate" and "remarkable" writing lies in sparkling imagination, razor-sharp craft and endless perseverance.
Taking these into consideration, we have now designed an Advanced Creative Writing Course. The course is aimed at amateur writers who have been attempting to write seriously but sense a need for critique and guidance. It is structured to help participants leap to the next step with more training in professional writing.
Emphasis will be laid on tips and prompts, exercises, and the use of certain writing techniques that help develop the story. It includes extended periods of immersive writing and mentoring. It will involve taking an idea and developing it into a story. It will also deal with non-fiction. Basically, it will deal with a deeper exploration into the craft and the mind of the writer.
Reading material will be distributed and discussed. Discussions on style and structure and why and how a story works will help writers understand the craft better. Hence, participants will be required to read a lot and write a lot more. They will then get their work reviewed.
At the end of the workshops, depending on the participant's degree of commitment and involvement, each one should have at least a couple of stories ready for sending out as submissions.
Attempts will be made to seriously address the problems and questions that arise during the writing process. The idea is to keep participants fruitfully engaged so that they are encouraged to keep writing and improve their craft.
