| The Department of Film & TV Production offers different constituents of filmmaking course, TV production course and film production courses. The courses cater to important disciplines of filmmaking such as Film Direction and scriptwriting course, Video Camera course and Film Editing courses.
This 15 - month Post Graduate Diploma Programme has been designed to introduce the students to the language of cinema. The course is taught in the digital video format which is soon becoming the preferred medium for cinematic expressions. These filmmaking courses have a balanced curriculum mix of film making such as film theory, film appreciation and film production. Explored in the digital video format which is soon becoming equivalent to celluloid, the course has a balanced curriculum mix of film theory, film appreciation and film production. The introductory module has been designed to explore the creative self of students in general and then it is gradually channelized towards cinematic expressions. This course can be considered as unique TV Production course that will empower students to handle fiction and docu-style programming. Ample practice and projects are undertaken to streamline their creative energy towards visual expressions. We offer three essential aspects of film making as streams of specializations:  1. Direction & Scriptwriting 2. Video Camera 3. Film Editing & Sound Design The projects start as basic experiments to visually narrate stories in coordination and continuity exercises. Gradually it progresses towards exploring complex structures of film by scripting and shooting misc-en-scene, choreography and dialogue exercises. Through these exercises, the students learn the purpose and application of cinematic language to represent and convey human emotions. This enables the students to acquire aesthetics and skills that are imperative to excel in the industry. Simultaneously students are expected to attend major film festivals, seminars and symposiums along with regular film screening in the campus. They deconstruct, discuss and debate on films and its script, camera, sound and other technical aspects to evolve the mind to have a questioning bent. At the end of the course, the students are expected to join together from different streams of specialization and make a short feature or documentary which works their final diploma project. After passing out, the course exercise films and the diploma films work as their portfolio/show reel through which they can showcase their capabilities in the industry. This film making course of Film & TV production will enable to venture out to the industry with confidence. |
