Admission Procedure

School Of Communication

The admission procedure for all post-graduate diploma programmes in the School of Communication commences on 1st April 2011. Each programme has a limited number of seats (as given below). Students are encouraged to apply early to avoid disappointment.
 
  1. Post Graduate Diploma in Integrated Marketing Communication (Ad & PR) (35 seats)
  2. Post Graduate Diploma in Journalism & Media Communication (50 seats)
  3. Post Graduate Diploma in Digital Marketing Communication (25 seats)

  • Graduates from any discipline
  • Working professionals
  • Students in their Final year of graduation/post graduation in any discipline
NOTE: Due to course rigour, students admitted into a course will NOT BE ALLOWED to pursue any other courses, jobs and/or activities that are not directly related to SACAC.
 

Assessment Pattern for Admission

SACAC believes in alignment of aspirations towards excellence and perfection.

The selection process is, therefore, based not only on the candidate’s previous academic record, test scores and intelligence, but also the candidate’s level of awareness, dedication, and willingness to learn.

How to apply

Step 1: Obtain the Application Form
Applicants can either download the Application Form or collect it from the office.



Step 2: Submit the completed Form
The form, along with the processing fee, can be dropped at or couriered to the following address.

Upon submission of form, all applicants will be provided with a copy of the brochure, test schedule, and receipt in lieu of payment of processing fee.

NOTE: Incomplete forms will not be processed.

Step 3: Write the Entrance test
All applicants are required to take the written exam in order to qualify. The exam is designed to test the candidate on their
• General Awareness about the subject/area
• Critical & Creative thinking ability
• Written communication skills (English)

Step 4: Attend the Personal Discussion & Interview
The Personal Discussion and Interview is the most important part of the selection process with a weightage of 30%. Its goal is to determine your enthusiasm and passion for the subject, and ensure that your expectations are aligned with what SACAC offers.
Shortlisted candidates will be intimated via email.

Department of Film & Video Production

 
The admission procedure for the Dept. of Film & Video Production starts from 15th June 2011. Courses offered and the number of seats available in this department is as follows:
 
  • Direction & Screenplay Writing
  • 6 seats
  • Digital Motion Picture Photography
  • 6 seats
  • Digital Motion Picture Editing & Sound Design
  • 6 seats
     

    Eligibility Criteria

    • Applicant must be minimum 21 years old
    • The minimum qualification for all the courses is Higher Secondary (10+2)
    • Final year graduation students expecting results can also apply
    • Working professionals in any discipline willing to dedicate to a full-time course learning filmmaking
    • Applicants with Higher Secondary (10+2) qualification have to support their time spent after Higher Secondary (10+2), doing jobs or any courses, with relevant documents
     *Kindly Note: The course discipline demands complete dedication towards the subject of learning. Hence students who are selected into the programme will NOT BE ALLOWED to undertake any other courses, activity or job outside the campus during the course period.
     

    Selection Procedure

Hence the selection process is not only based to test the ability and intelligence but also to evaluate the levels of awareness, keenness and openness to learning.     Stepwise Selection Procedure

    Step 1: Submission of application form

    The application forms can be collected from the SACAC office or can downloaded from www.sac.ac.in. Please note that incomplete forms will not be processed.

    Candidates who courier the form have to attach the demand draft of Rs.1000 drawn in favour of Sri Aurobindo Centre for Arts and Communication. Upon submission of form all applicants will be provided with a copy of the brochure, test schedule and receipt in lieu of payment of the processing fee. 


    It is advised that applicants submit a portfolio of any creative work, if any that they deem fit for the course that they have applied. It helps a lot in evaluation of their motivation and understanding of the medium in which they want to pursue their career.

    Step 2: Written Test

    The question paper has two sets scheduled over two sessions.
    Morning Session : 10.30 am to 12.30 pm
    Lunch Break : 12.30 pm – 1.30 pm
    Afternoon Session : 1.30 pm to 3.30 pm


    Paper pattern

    The first set checks your general awareness, interest in art history, cinema and visual culture, aptitude and clarity of thought in putting across your point of view.

    The second set checks your intellectual and emotional response patterns to audiovisual pieces. You will be shown a still image, a print ad, a TVC and a short film and made to listen to a small music piece and write your responses to them briefly.

    Step 3: Personal Interview

    The personal interview with panel comprising of SACAC faculty will assess your understanding of the medium you have chosen and the conviction and motivational levels to pursue a career in it. Also the panel will try and understand the applicants' expectation from the course and counsels their queries.

    The result will be based on the cumulative score of the applicants' performance in the three stages. The percentage distribution of scores is as follows:

    Questions in the application form 20%
    Written test 30%
    Personal interview 50%

    SACAC believes that filmmaking is subjective medium like any other art form and ultimately what matters is your motivation to pursue it with tremendous perseverance to continue despite all odds towards the ever elusive success. Thus your performance and discussion in the personal interview scores has been given highest percentage (50%) over the other two stages.  

    Final result will be intimated to the candidates by mail and telephone.  SACAC reserves the right to select candidates for admission below its full capacity. 

     

    Department of Creative Photography and Sound Recording & Designing

    The admission process for the Dept. of Creative Photography and Sound Design starts from 15th June 2011. Courses offered and the number of seats available in this department is as follows
     
    • Creative Photography                                  15  seats
    • Sound Recording & Designing                      15 seats

    Eligibility Criteria

    • Applicant must be at least 21 years old
    • Meet the course-specific minimum academic qualification detailed below:

    Creative Photography Senior Secondary (10 + 2)in any subject
    Sound Recording & Designing Senior Secondary (10 + 2) in any subject

    • Final year graduation students expecting results can also apply
    • Working professionals in any discipline who want to learn Photography or Sound Recording, and are willing to dedicate themselves to a full-time course.
    • Applicants with Senior Secondary (10+2) qualification may apply provided they have relevant work experience.
    *Note: The course discipline demands complete dedication towards the subjects. Students who are admitted into the programme will NOT BE ALLOWED to undertake any other courses, activity, or job outside the campus during the course period.
