Twilight film club announces a 2 month screen writing workshop exclusively for short fiction films. The workshop will be conducted by noted writer and filmmaker Sidharth Srinivasan. Interested aspirants should apply with an "original" story idea (not more than 500 words), written in English. This weekend workshop spread over two months will help participants translate their ideas into screenplay format. At the end of the workshop each participant will get a certificate of participation. The best screenplay emanating from the workshop will get support of camera and editing facility of Sri Aurobindo Centre for Arts and Communication to make it into a film.

Sidharth Srinivasan graduated from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi University, and went on to assist renowned Indian filmmaker Kumar Shahani, in turn a student of masters like Ghatak and Bresson. His debut short film, SWAMOHITA, screened In Competition at the VENICE FILM FESTIVAL (2000), the world’s oldest film festival. Sidharth was all of 23 years old at the time he wrote, produced and directed this film against all odds on 3 year-old balance 35mm stock! Made in 2002, Sidharth’s first feature DIVYA DRISHTI was produced for under US$ 10,000 and shot in a mere 7 days! DIVYA DRISHTI won awards for Best Film, Best Original Screenplay and Best Supporting Actor (Rajpal Yadav) at the Karachi International Film Festival in Pakistan. Since then, it has travelled widely at festivals (Singapore, Commonwealth, Bangkok etc), museums (Museum of Contemporary Art-Chicago, Walker Art Centre-Minneapolis etc) and been sold across platforms (Zee Cinema etc). Currently, Sidharth is completing his second feature PAIRON TALLE (aka SOUL OF SAND). Awarded the prestigious Hubert Bals Fund of the International Film Festival Rotterdam (also awarded to celebrated contemporary filmmakers such as Nuri Bilge Ceylan, Carlos Reygadas, Cristian Mungiu etc), the project has already secured Pre-Distribution to the Benelux territories and premieres in 2010.
Sidharth’s production outfit Reel Illusion Films makes turnkey projects – clients include UNESCO and Delhi Government. He also provides Script Consultation services and has been commissioned by The Cartoon Network, Turner Entertainment, NFDC and other prestigious bodies for the same. Sidharth is a Regular member of the Film Writers’ Association and a Trustee of NETPAC (The Network for Promotion of Asian Cinema).
