Certificate Weekend Course in Self Exploration through Theatre
About
Theatre workshops are widely used to enhance skills in communication / leadership/
personality development/ confidence building/ public appearance and speech. However,
SACAC’s weekend certificate course on Self Exploration through Theatre is essentially
a transformative journey for the participant, where one learns to work in a team,
yet excel individually; discover oneself and understands one’s opinions and the
reasons for them, expresses one’s thoughts in public and holds on to one’s conviction
– while also learning that adaptability and flexibility are basic ingredients for
growth.
The participant has a chance to discover who he/she is and why, and puts an effort
into understanding the world around him/her - and what needs to be done on his/her
part to make it more livable, and one where the participant’s emotions, ideas, sensitivity
and vulnerability are understood and accepted.
Skills Developed
Theatre is multi-faceted, many dimensional exploration process and is a perfect
tool for us develop:
Sensitivity - Guiding creative talents, being sensitive and aware,
using creative energies for individual and collective development.
Responsibility - Taking responsibility for self. Exploring possibilities
and making conscious choices.
Communication skills - Becoming aware of ideas, understanding them
and knowing how to express them so that they are properly and powerfully communicated.
Willingness to learn - Understanding the limitlessness of knowledge
and experiences and the developing a need to extend them constantly.
Co-operation - Being able to share - ideas, thoughts, wishes, dreams;
sharing fears, anxieties and complexes, sharing resources, abilities, and talents.
Excellence & Evolution - Working together for a common goal, a
unified vision devoid of personal ambitions and yet excelling at individual levels.
Enjoying work - And finally, it’s about having Fun - because there
can be no education and no theatre without one absolutely loving it!
Curriculum
The course uses exercises of theatre, art, music, movement, journalism and research.
Based on the use of intellect, mind, body and spirit, the various workshops focus
on:
- Body, Breath and Mind mapping
- Reading, Understanding, Emoting, Presenting, Representing
- Voice, Speech and Diction
- Expressions, Gestures and Body Movement
- Relating with Others and Search into the Emotional landscapes
- Sharpening Visualization & Aesthetic Sense
- Confidence, Communication and conquering Challenges
The ultimate purpose is not a public performance or a final show on stage, but the whole journey - where participants are going to be exposed not only to art & aesthetics, drama, poetry, music and movement, the rhythm of our heart and the beat in our bodies, variety of expressions, analysis of situations and the art of communication, but the awareness that each of us is a unique being and has infinite potential waiting to be tapped and spread in so many diverse directions.

Fees
A fees of INR 22,500 to be paid by cheque or DD favouring Sri Aurobindo
Centre for Arts & Communication payable at New Delhi.
