Shorts is comparatively a new genre in India, quite different from the short features which have been made for a long time. With the advent of new cheaper technologies, cinema production has seen a paradigm shift. It is far more cheaper to make films than ever before. The new age digital cameras are light and small and can be placed anywhere; the editing process quicker and convenient than that of the good old moviola days and distribution efficient and the audience global. But are these changing the way cinema is produced and seen? Is Shorts an outcome of such an evolution?
The panel discussion "Aestheshorts" aims at raising debate and discussion on these aspects of cinematic evolution to be held on 29th and 30th December 2010 at 5.45pm at Aurobindo Auditorium, Auroville. The discussion topics will be "Digital technology and aesthetics of Cinema and "Digital Technology and scope of personal cinema" respectively.
The panelists includes R.V. Ramani, a well known documentary maker specializing in Motion Picture Photography; K. Hariharan, an accomplished filmmaker and distinguished scholar is the Director, L.V. Prasad Film Institute, Chennai and Sadanand Menon, is a widely known photographer and reputed art critic. |
