Chayan Adhikari is a widely-recognized Delhi-based musician. He is the lead vocalist of the renowned Delhi based band, Advaita, a member of the electronic outfit Time Machine and one half of the acoustic duo - ‘Chayan & Smiti’. He has also been associated with various musical groups and projects such as Artistes Unlimited, The Next Collective, The Group Project, Think Floyd.
Chayan has been a part of Advaita for the past 15 years. The band has two critically acclaimed studio albums to their name -- 'Grounded in Space’ (2009) and ‘Silent Sea’ (2012) -- for which they have won many awards including - Global Indian Music Award for Best Rock Album and Jack Daniel’s Award for Best Album.
Chayan is also an established independent artist.
In 2010, Chayan was one of the six Indian artists invited to perform at the ‘JAZZAAR’ festival in Aarau, Switzerland. This festival featured some of the greatest musicians from around the world such as – Fritz Renold, Reggie Hamilton, Lew Solof, ManricoPadovani, Airto Moreira, Willy Kotoun, Buster Williams, Danny Gottlieb amongst others.
Chayan was chosen to be a part of ‘Anamchara-Songs of Friendship’, an opera written by the Scottish Opera, which was performed during the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, 2014.
Chayan is also an established music producer. In 2012, Chayan was the music director of The Yellow Brick Project’s fourth musical production, ‘Dirty Laundry’ and in 2013, he composed music for one of India’s largest original musical theatre productions by Humour Me, titled, ‘7 Days to Wonderland.’ In 2014, Chayan also toured Egypt as the music and sound coordinator for ‘Bollywood Love Story- A Musical’, a Bollywood musical, which was produced by Teamwork Arts.

Chayan has been teaching music for the past ten years and has been associated as a vocal instructor and music educator with several music production colleges in Delhi such as the Global Music Institute, One World College of Music, Sri Aurobindo Centre for Arts and Communication, Bridge Music Academy and Aria School of Music. He has also worked with both professional and college choirs extensively.
Chayan also has experience with community-based work and he currently leads the Music Basti program at Enabling Leadership - a community based music and media learning project, working with at risk youth and children in Delhi, with the aim to nurture and develop essential life skills in children through musical learning. His work at Enabling Leadership involves teaching children, training facilitators and to research and create interactive methods of engaging with communities through the scope of music.
