Ramya Mohan

Ramya Mohan is a multidisciplinary designer and educator from Chennai. She is an alumnus of National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad and graduated as a Textile Designer.

With over a decade of experience creating and researching textiles, she has worked with various leading organizations like Titan India, Atlas Exports and MulberrySilks Pvt. Ltd to style, manufacture and market textiles. Her collections have been regularly showcased at the prestigious Maison e objet fair in Paris and Heimtextil in Frankfurt. She holds a keen interest in handmade processes and textile traditions. She has represented universities like NID (Ahmedabad) and IICD (Jaipur) as a design researcher in their projects to document Indian textiles and conduct workshops to develop and hone design sensibilities in craft communities. Her strength lies in her ability to work in cross disciplinary environments. In 2015, she co-founded a game studio that launched its first game “Chase and Hunt'' on the Apple store and was highly reviewed for it’s visual design. She explores her love for art and people centric narratives by doing custom embroidered art pieces under her label Pūrn. She is also currently a visiting faculty at NIFT, Chennai.
