Padmanabhan (Paddy) heads Spotify’s Artist and Label Marketing for India. He is responsible for the music content led strategy for music labels and artists on the platform here. His role also includes partner education, key release marketing plans, live music and artist engagement. He has been instrumental in onboarding all the major Indian labels and artists on the platform and providing necessary tools and services such as Spotify Analytics, and Spotify for Artists.
Prior to Spotify, Paddy was the National Music Head for India’s leading FM Radio Channel – Radio City. Paddy started his career as a software engineer, and after a decade, his love for music made him cross over to the music business. He has over 15 years of experience as the A&R and Digital Head with various music labels, including Times Music, EMI Music, and Universal Music, where he was responsible for discovering some of India’s biggest independent artists such as Swarathma, Advaita, and Grammy Winner Ricky Kej, among others.
Paddy is also a guitarist and has played with some leading Indian acts like Shankar Ehsaan Loy, Rahul Vaidya and Abhijeet Sawant, and on weekends, you may find him jamming with his Classic Rock covers band One Night Stand, or his Hindi setup called Trishna Unplugged.
