Author, Editor, Film maker and Corporate Trainer

Ramesh Menon cannot imagine life without writing.

He is an author, an award winning journalist, a documentary film maker and corporate trainer in soft skills. He is a recipient of the prestigious Ramnath Goenka Award for Excellence in Journalism. He also got the Madhavankutty Gold Medal for Excellence in English Journalism.

Books

Caste and Communal Timebomb, Golwala Publications, Ahmedabad: First Edition: 1987, Second Edition: 1990. (The book was on the caste and communal violence that had torn Gujarat.)

Whatever the Odds, HarperCollins India, Published in 2011. The book deals with the life story of K.P. Singh, real estate magnate and chairman, DLF. Is the story of how he rose from being a captain in the Indian army to one of the richest Indians and how he succeeded in building a city like Gurugram.

(Authored a chapter on The Adventure of Reporting) He has written for a host of publications like Reader’s Digest, India Today, Outlook, Tehelka, Marie Claire, DNA, Mint, Prevention, and numerous websites like www.mongabay.com, www.indiaspend.com, www.indiatogether.com, www.livemint.com and others. He wrote over 175 columns for DNA that dealt with feel-good stories and positive thinking.

Ramesh has directed and scripted numerous documentary films dealing with social issues and environment that have been showcased on television and at various film festivals.

He teaches creative writing at various communication schools. He is an Adjunct Professor at the Symbiosis Institute of Media and Communication at Pune.He also lectures at MCRC in Jamia Millia Islamia. The India Today Media Institute, Noida, and the Symbiosis Law College, Noida.

In a career spread over four decades, he worked across print, television and the new media. He started as a reporter with The Times of India. His longest stint of 16 years was with India Today where he started as a correspondent and rose to become Associate Editor. As Executive Producer of Business India Television and TV Today, he produced a variety of television programmes dealing with news, current affairs and ecology. He produced Newstrack, a weekly current affairs programme for TV Today. As Roving Editor of rediff.com, he reported on various current events.His last full-time assignment was as Managing Editor of India Legal, India’s first politico-legal weekly magazine.

He enjoys teaching, writing, travelling and corporate training in soft skills.
