Impasto Art Workshop
An Introduction to Texture Painting
Impasto is a painting technique where thick layers of paint and texture create rich, raised surfaces that bring artworks to life through depth and movement.
This workshop introduces participants to the fundamentals of impasto and textured art, exploring how everyday materials and tools can be used to build dimensional surfaces on different objects. Participants will learn how to create textures using palette knives, sponges, fabrics, and other simple tools, while experimenting with texture paste and mixed materials.
Through guided exercises, students will practice a variety of texture techniques before developing their own composition on canvas. They will explore themes such as floral, mandala, abstract, or landscape designs while learning how to layer textures to create three-dimensional forms and patterns.
The workshop will also introduce texture art on terracotta pots, where participants will design and create a textured decorative piece using similar techniques adapted for curved surfaces.
The course concludes with painting, shading, highlighting, and finishing techniques that enhance the textured surfaces and bring the artworks to completion.
