Anuj Arora is an independent visual artist based in India. In his creative practice, he delves into themes of identity, community, and personal narratives. His work has been exhibited by the Prameya Art Foundation as part of PRAF Discover, and he was a finalist in the TOTO Photography Awards 2020. He was awarded third place in POY Asia’s Covid Expressions category for his deeply personal work Portrait of My Mother, and participated in the Missouri Photo Workshop Hometown Edition 2021. Anuj also received a Special Mention by the Alkazi Theatre Archives for his photographic project Opera of the Puppets, which explored the shifting meanings of puppetry when removed from traditional theatre contexts and placed within real-world narratives.
His long-term project Unsettled Identities, documenting the lives of displaced Rohingya refugees in Delhi, was featured in PIX Journal (Passages) and at the Auckland Festival of Photography by FORMAT. His photography and essays have been published widely in The Hindu, Deccan Herald, Hindustan Times, Getty Images, Khirkee Voice, Indian Express, and SPRF.
Before fully committing to his independent artistic journey, Anuj worked as a visual designer for three years. He now serves as the Creative Head at Woodland Aero Group, and has contributed his expertise as a Creative Consultant to the Devi Art Foundation.
