SACAC hosted an insightful session with Gregory D. Booth, Professor of Ethnomusicology at the University of Auckland, on “Research in Indian Popular Music: Technology and Commerce, Emotion and Identity.” Drawing on over four decades of research, Professor Booth explored how technology, commerce, and cultural identity intersect in shaping Indian popular music. The session offered students valuable perspectives on the workings of the music industry and evolving cultural practices. A lively discussion followed, enriched by his landmark works, including Behind the Curtain, Brass Baja, and More than Bollywood.
