Who Should Join

This course is built for three kinds of learners

Whether you are starting from scratch, switching careers, a professional who works with design, or preparing for India's top design schools — the curriculum meets you where you are.

  • The Beginner
  • You've always been interested in design but never had formal training. Whether you are a student, a recent graduate, or exploring a creative career, this course builds your foundation in design thinking, visual communication, and portfolio development — without requiring prior experience.

  • The Working Professional
  • You already work with creative software or collaborate with designers but want to understand design beyond the tools. Whether you're a graphic designer, photographer, architect, illustrator, content creator, or communication professional, this course helps you strengthen your design thinking, creative process, typography, composition, and visual problem-solving.

  • Professionals Who Work With Design
  • If your role involves commissioning, reviewing, managing, or marketing creative work, understanding design becomes a valuable advantage. Marketing professionals, brand managers, sales teams, communication specialists, PR professionals, entrepreneurs, and business owners will gain the ability to evaluate design more effectively, communicate with creative teams, and make better visual decisions for their organisations.

The course is also an excellent foundation for students preparing for design entrance examinations such as NID DAT, UCEED, and NIFT, as it develops the visual thinking, observation, composition, and design fundamentals expected by these institutions.

Why SACAC

What makes this different from every other online graphic design course

  • 01 — Learn Design Through Studio Practice
  • Design is learnt by doing. At SACAC, every project is guided through discussion, critique, iteration, and feedback — mirroring the way designers work in professional studios. You don't simply learn software; you develop the ability to observe, think, solve problems, and communicate visually.

  • 02 — A Live Learning Experience That Keeps You Engaged
  • This is not a recorded course you watch at your convenience. Every Saturday and Sunday, you join a live class where ideas are discussed, projects are reviewed, questions are encouraged, and learning happens through active participation. You learn alongside a cohort of peers, present your work, receive feedback, and refine your ideas as the course progresses.

  • 03 — Build a Portfolio That Reflects Your Growth
  • A certificate acknowledges your completion of the course. A portfolio demonstrates your ability as a designer. Throughout the programme, every project contributes to a body of work that reflects your creativity, design thinking, and problem-solving skills. The course concludes with portfolio development and a public student showcase.

Where our alumni have gone on to contribute:

  • UX & Localization Consultant at Google
  • Creative Associate at Bain & Company
  • Brand Identity Designers
  • Packaging and Editorial Designers
  • Independent Creative Professionals and Freelancers

Curriculum

What you will learn — 6-month online graphic design course curriculum. Following modules that move from design fundamentals to professional practice. Each builds on the last.

Software you will learn: Adobe Photoshop · Adobe Illustrator · Adobe InDesign

  • Elements and principles of design
  • Line, shape, space, balance, contrast, alignment, hierarchy, repetition — the grammar of visual communication. Applied deliberately.

  • Composition with shapes
  • Constructing and deconstructing visual space using basic shapes. Training the eye to understand proportion, tension, and visual weight.

  • Colour theory, psychology, and colour management
  • Colour theory, psychological effects of colour, colour interaction, and technical colour management across print and digital outputs.

  • Typography
  • Typeface anatomy, classification, selection, pairing, hierarchy, and spacing. Type choices make or break a piece of design.

  • Introduction to graphic design software
  • Hands-on training in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign through real exercises — not isolated tutorials.

  • Grids and layout
  • Grid systems, layout principles, spatial rhythm. The invisible architecture that makes design feel organised and intentional.

  • Branding, logo and stationery design
  • A complete brand identity system from brief to final output — logo, colour palette, typeface selection, stationery applications.

  • Packaging design
  • Brief, structural considerations, printing specifications, and visual language of packaging — one of India's highest-demand design specialisations.

  • Information graphics
  • Visualising complex data and information clearly and beautifully. Essential for editorial, corporate, and digital design contexts.

  • Design thinking and strategy
  • How professional designers frame a problem before solving it. Process, methodology, research, and the relationship between strategy and visual outcome.

  • Portfolio development, final exhibition & external jury
  • Dedicated time to curate and refine your best work, culminating in SACAC's public student showcase — a live exhibition of the batch's work.

How the Live Online Classes Work

Every element is designed for live online delivery — not adapted from a classroom format as an afterthought.

  • Step 1 — Join live every weekend
  • Log in every Saturday and Sunday, 10 AM to 2 PM. You see your faculty, your batchmates, and your work on screen simultaneously. The session runs like a design studio — active, conversational, and direct.

  • Step 2 — Present your work and receive real-time critique
  • You bring your work to every session. Faculty review it directly — your decisions, your reasoning, your execution. This is a live design review, the way it happens in every professional studio in India.

  • Step 3 — Work on briefs between sessions
  • Each module comes with a structured brief to complete before the next class. The brief is not optional — it is the learning. The hours between sessions are where your skills actually develop.

  • Step 4 — Build and present your final portfolio
  • The final module is dedicated to portfolio curation and the student showcase — a public exhibition of the batch's work presented to faculty, peers, and industry guests.

What you need to participate:

  • A laptop (Mac or PC) with a stable internet connection
  • Adobe Creative Cloud — Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign (Adobe Education pricing available)
  • A mouse or graphics tablet/stylus — strongly recommended for detail work
  • A 4-hour commitment every Saturday and Sunday, 10 AM – 2 PM

Mentoring

Mentoring in arts and design at SACAC is centered on nurturing creativity, guiding exploration, and providing constructive feedback that helps students refine their vision within a structured framework. Through dialogue, critique, and encouragement, mentors foster curiosity, confidence, and individual growth, while inspiring originality, building resilience, and deepening each student’s connection to their craft.

Frequently Asked Questions

This is a 100% live online course. You attend every Saturday and Sunday via video call from anywhere in India — Bangalore, Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, Chennai, or any other city. You never need to visit the Delhi campus.

The course fee is ₹75,000 + applicable GST. A non-refundable application registration fee of ₹1,200 is payable at the time of applying. Please contact admissions@sac.ac.in for information on payment schedules.

No prior design experience is required. The course is designed for complete beginners as well as those with some exposure to art or visual work. Eligibility is age 16 and above. You will be asked to share a portfolio or selection of creative work — to assess creative potential, not professional experience.

The course is taught by faculty trained at the National Institute of Design (NID), Ahmedabad — India's most prestigious design institution. This includes Amardeep Kumar (NID graduate, 10+ years practice), Lavanya Asthana (NID graduate, Partner at Unlike Design Co.), and Satvinder Channey (NID graduate, 30+ years experience, Founder of Design Route studio). All faculty are active practitioners.

You will need Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe InDesign — all part of Adobe Creative Cloud. Students can access these via the Adobe Education plan at a discounted rate. A mouse or graphics tablet/stylus is strongly recommended for detailed design work.

Udemy and Coursera courses are pre-recorded videos — you watch, submit, and receive delayed or automated feedback. SACAC's online course is a live, cohort-based studio environment where faculty critique your work in real time every weekend. The quality of critique is what separates designers who grow from those who plateau. There is no substitute for a live design review.

Yes. Several students join specifically to build the foundational skills, design thinking approach, and portfolio quality required for NID DAT, UCEED, and NIFT entrance examinations. The faculty — many of whom are NID graduates themselves — are well-placed to guide students on this path.

You will receive a Certificate in Graphic Design from SACAC (Sri Aurobindo Centre for Arts and Creativity), awarded on successful completion of all modules, assignments, and the final portfolio exhibition. SACAC is an established creative institution, a project of Sri Aurobindo Society, New Delhi.

The next batch commences in August 2026. Applications are open now. The process: fill the application form → pay the ₹1,200 registration fee → submit creative work samples → attend a brief online interaction. Seats are limited per batch to maintain the quality of live critique.
